Realizing that today’s youths are the future of the country, this club has been conducting the “S.L.C. FELICITATION PROGRAM” in association with Manang Social Service Committee since 2054 BS (1997 AD) with a vision to convince the importance of education to the youth, and encourage them to achieve higher education and become competent and honest citizens with objectives to serve the society and the nation. The club felicitates all the students of Manang community from Kathmandu and Manang District who have passed the Iron Gate, S.L.C. Examinations, by honouring them with trophies, medals and certificates. Top 10 students from Kathmandu and top 3 students from Manang District, along with those who have passed with distinctions are awarded Cash Prizes.

Felicitation of Master Degree holders & Professional degree holders
Similarly, the club also felicitates the students who have achieved Masters Degree in any field or professional degrees in different fields like Doctor, Pilot, Engineer, etc. and in the field of sports by distributing medals, prizes and appreciation certificates since 2060 B.S. (2003 AD).

In order to encourage the footfall of audience for the felicitation program, the club incorporates a cultural program in the event, whereby the audience gets entertained, too. This program has been very effective in actually encouraging the youths to get serious with their studies, as a result the number of school dropouts have dramatically decreased. It could be said that this “S.L.C. FELICITATION PROGRAM” has become a landmark program of the club, which is anxiously awaited by the people of Manang community each year.

SOCIAL WORKS & HUMANITARIAN ACTION

BLOOD DONATION PROGRAM – TO SAVE LIVES

Nepal Blood Bank was facing acute shortage of blood, the most powerful and essential part of human life. Realizing Blood Donation to be one of the most committed social activities, the club organized their 1st Blood Donation PROGRAM on May 21, 1997 at Manang Gumba, Kathmandu, to create public awareness and disseminate information on voluntary blood donation to save lives. Late Supremo Ganesh Man Singh had graced the event as the chief guest. 51 people had donated a pound of their blood.

Ever since with a strong commitment of giving a part of ourselves for the benefit of humanity, such blood donation programs, a life saving action, has become an annual event of the club.

In 2003 the club was awarded the shield of Highest Blood Donor Organization by Nepal Blood Bank for achieving the largest number of female blood donors in the country.

And again in 2004, the club was awarded the same award for female donors, whereby 124 people had donated blood, among which 47 were male and 77 were female.

SWOYAMBHU CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN
On November 2005, a welfare clean up program with a slogan 'KEEP CLEAN - LIVE HEALTHY' was organized by Manang Marshyangdi Club with the sponsorship of Mr. Yishu Ghale (Kathmandu Imports, USA). The main objective of the program was to draw attention toward the pollution & garbage problem in the Swoyambhu area, one of the most important Buddhist Pilgrimage site and a world heritage. The club would endeavour to organize such clean up program in different concerned areas in near future to preserve the environment and the ancient monuments. In the meantime, this clean up program would be organized every year. Motivated and encouraged by our program, other organizations have picked up the trend, and are seen holding similar clean –up campaigns in Swoyambhu Area

PRESERVATION OF CULTURE & TRADITION - LHOSAR CELEBRATION
This club organized the celebration of Holtangpa Lhosar, the lunar new year of Manang community in its traditional form. It is held at Manang Gumba, Kathmandu, with various traditional cultural programs performed by community artists, while popular artists performed modern songs and dance. This helps to keep the tradition and the culture alive and to teach the youths of today about their heritage. After organizing the event each year for a several years, due to lack of funds, the club was in no position to continue hosting the program in 2006. However, Manang Social Service Committee got motivated by our past efforts, and they decided to organize the Lhosar Celebration Program, which they have been continuously doing it until this date.

RELIGIOUS EVENTS – BUDDHA JAYANTI CELEBRATION
Buddha Jayanti or also known as Buddha Purnima is the most sacred festivals of Buddhists. Buddha Purnima (birth anniversary of Lord Buddha) is celebrated in remembrance of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.

Prayers are sung and the Buddhists offer worship in all the major Buddhist shrines such as Swayambhu and Boudhanath. At Swoyambhunath, for example millions of devout Buddhists gather to chant prayers, burn butter lamps. Large groups of people parade through the streets praising the Lord and his teachings. An enormous procession of monks and lay people chanting prayers, beating drums, and bearing Buddhist flags and paintings of the Buddha, go around the Swoyambhu hill. The Club sets up a stall in Swoyambhu to offer the devout pilgrims with clean drinking water and juice.
